Summary
Because of the increasing demand for higher bandwidths worldwide, data centers have already started transitioning from 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) to 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GE) . 40GE is a standard intended for the local server connectivity which enables frame transfer in ethernet up to 40 gigabits per second.
With this system upgrade, network interface utilizes components with higher performance standards. In the design, we feature the STRADA Whisper high speed backplane connectors from TE Connectivity. Using these backplane connectors, the system achieves better signal integrity. With its horizontally stacked pairs and shielded design, the systems' noise can be reduced dramatically. Reducing the noise of the system means greater flexibility.
For the 40GE, physical layer specification 40GBASE-KR4 supports the backplane transmission. With this, include an auto-negotiation (AN) sublayer and an optional forward error correction (FEC) sublayer. When encoded in 64B/66B, 10 gigabits per second is measured as the effective rate per lane, which results to a signalling rate of 10.3125 gigabaud per second.
