The humidity and temperature are two of the reference or means, together with dew point, of quantifying the amounts of moisture in the atmosphere present at any time or place. The humidity being measure more specifically is the relative humidity. It is expressed as a percentage value of the ratio of the actual amount of water vapor present in a sample or the absolute humidity to the amount that would be needed to saturate that particular sample. The sensor used is the SHT30-ARP-B, a full calibrated, linearized, and temperature compensated analog output humidity and temperature sensor IC.
The circuit is a simple circuit design that has an analog humidity and temperature sensor, Arduino Uno, and a 16x2 LCD module. The sensor can operate with a supply range from 2.4V to 5.5V. The RH pin in the sensor is for relative humidity signal while the T pin is for the temperature signal. The reset pin has a pull up resistor because the pin has an active low operation, it is recommended to connect it to VDD when not in used. The decoupling capacitors are placed for noise reduction; the 100nF must be placed as close to the sensor as possible. The 16 x 2 LCD module used is the NHD-0216SZ-FL-YBW. The LCD Module is interfaced with the Arduino in 4-bit mode, using the four high order bi-directional three-state data bus line (DB4-DB7).
The circuit is applicable in automotive, climate control, humidity monitoring, and industrial. The data you can get from the humidity and temperature sensors can improve performance, reduce energy consumption, and can also increase safety in certain appliances and situations.
