Summary

The design features power routing and management. It has low operating resistance and fast switching speed compared to some common switching technologies. The configuration break-before-switch is used which is non-shorting configuration and it has overcurrent protection to prevent damage. It lowers the overall power consumption of the system especially relay coil that dissipates a lot of energy which is not good to battery-operated application.


The circuit is comprised of MAX4624 which is a low voltage, single supply spdt analog switch for relay power consumption control. The general purpose diode is for rectification and current flow. The resistors and capacitors are for current protection and and voltage stability.


The development of mobile devices are challenged on how power consumption will managed. This simple idea of power management is already a great help in which it could reduce power dissipation of components.
