A lot of people wondering if they could still use their existing TV Monitor to cope up with the rampant digital devices with VGA port. The design is another idea on how to use old monitor as a display of present digital console. The old design of TV monitor does not have VGA port unlike the present LCD and LED TV Monitor. With the use of converters and other type of connectors, the old TV monitor can still be used and extends its life as a primary device for display.
The design is comprised of power supply with 5V output. The AD722 is an RGB to NTSC/PAL Encoder that converts red, green and blue color component signals into their corresponding luminance (baseband amplitude) and chrominance (subcarrier amplitude and phase) signals in accordance with either NTSC or PAL standards. The SPDT switch controls the standard to be used hence NTSC and PAL deals with different frequencies. The 555 IC is for the generation horizontal sync signal and the 74AHCT86D is a Quad 2-input EXCLUSIVE-OR gate IC that is used for the generation of vertical sync signal. The VGA port is the connector where the digital console can attach.
The design provide an excellent idea in order to extend the functionality of old TV monitors. It saves money and protects the environment from the increasing volume of damps. With this concept, the electronic devices will just evolve which is better than letting the device become obsolete.
